Two Nigerians Arrested In India With Drugs Worth Over N7m
The Suspects
Two Nigerians have been arrested by officials of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Karnataka in Bengaluru on charges of drug peddling and a stash of cocaine and ecstasy valued at Rs 15 lakh (N7,875,969.26) recovered from them.
The suspects identified as John Egwuatu Chinedu, 28 and Vincent Ejimofor, 37, residents of B Channasandra in Ramamurthynagar were arrested on Saturday, February 13, 2021, near a police station in the area.
A team from the Anti-Narcotics Wing of the CCB searched a house rented by John, seized 60 gms of cocaine and 10 gms of ecstasy, and arrested them for storing and selling drugs.
The duo allegedly supplied drugs at parties attended by businessmen, students and techies, police said.
Police also said the the Nigerians, who have overstayed their visas, had plans to distribute the drugs during Valentine’s Day.
“The cocaine is of A-grade quality, for which they charge Rs 7,000-8,000 for one gram. The ecstasy’s quality is yet to be ascertained,” police said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
