Horrified mum found video of boyfriend ‘repeatedly hanging her daughter, 2’

A man who allegedly filmed himself repeatedly hanging a toddler until she passed out has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The girl’s mum reported the vile incident to police after she found the video footage on a mobile phone belonging to her live-in boyfriend David Coleman, 38, from Ohama in Nebraska, the US.

The five-minute video, which was apparently shot in a storage unit owned by Coleman, showed the sicko hanging the 2-year-old girl by the neck with a pink scarf that was tied to a shelving unit.

“The victim hanged by her neck, losing the ability to breathe and losing consciousness,” according to court papers.

“After the victim lost consciousness,” the affidavit continues, “the suspect could be seen grabbing her roughly by the chest and lifting her with the ligature still tied to her neck to release the pressure just enough to allow her to breathe, gasp, cry and gurgle, before dropping her into the hanging position again.”

After being alerted to the crime, police immediately arrested Coleman, reports News Channel Nebraska.

Arresting officers found a second video on his phone, this time over 30 minutes long, which showed him wrapping the same scarf around the 2-year-old’s neck while she was in a car seat in the storage unit’s car park, it is claimed.

In that shocking clip “the victim can be seen turning red and blue in the face,” prosecutors say.

“The victim appeared to try [to cry], but was unable to, because the ligature was pulled so tightly.”

They added: ”The suspect could be seen starting and stopping the process by applying more or less pressure after several minutes at a time.”

There were no long-term physical injuries suffered by the child, according to officials.

Don Kleine, district attorney for Douglas County in Omaha, says that given Coleman’s previous record – he was jailed for deliberately burning a young boy in 2012 – prosecutors will be pushing for the maximum sentence.

Coleman has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, child abuse and being a felon in possession of a weapon, which could see him behind bars for up to 10 years.

He has pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $1 million bond [£704,000].
